Il y a 224 ans, aujourd’hui, la fin de la Révolution française

Par le coup d’État des 9 et 10 novembre 1799, Napoléon Bonaparte renverse le Directoire et établit un nouveau régime dans lequel il exerce un pouvoir dictatorial : le Consulat. On peut à ce moment considérer que la Révolution française est terminée.

On 9 November 1799, as frustration with their leadership reaches a fever pitch, Bonaparte stages a coup d’état, abolishing the Directory and appointing himself France’s ‘first consul’. This marks the end of the French Revolution and the start of the Napoleonic era.
